COMPETITION for the Selection and Appointment of Director of the Tourist Office of the Vrhovine Tourist Board

Pursuant to Article 17, paragraph 1, item 6 of the Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism (Official Gazette, No. 152/08) of Article 1 of the Ordinance on special conditions to be fulfilled by employees in a tourist office of the tourist board of a municipality, city, county and the Tourist Office of the Croatian Tourist Board (Official Gazette, No. 23/2017, 72/2017), Article 25, paragraph 1, item 5, and Article 44, paragraph 2 of the Statute of the Vrhovine Tourist Board (County Gazette of Lika-Senj County, No. 10/17) and point 1 of the Decision on the Competition for the Selection of Director of the Tourist Office of the Vrhovine Tourist Board, CLASS: 334-08/18-01/03, REG.NO.: 2125/81-01/18- 02 of 19 December 2018, the Tourist Council of the Vrhovine Tourist Board announces

COMPETITION

for the Selection and Appointment

of Director of the Tourist Office of the Vrhovine Tourist Board

 

Position: Director of the Tourist Office of the Vrhovine Tourist Board;

Number of positions: 1 (one), contract for an indefinite duration, full-time (8 hours a day);

The Director can be appointed a person who, in addition to the general public conditions, shall meet the following specially prescribed requirements listed below:

1. to have completed the minimum undergraduate professional or university degree (180 or 240 ECTS);
2. to have at least one year of work experience in tourism related activities for which the minimum study is referred to under the point 1;
3. to make a proposal of the work programme of the Tourist Office for next calendar year;
4. to actively use a foreign language;
5. to have passed the public examination for work at a tourist office, and if not, s/he shall have to pass the examination within one year from the day of entry into the public service;
6. to be computer literate.

A candidate who has not passed the public examination for work at a tourist office can as well be selected and nominated for the job of Director of the Tourist Office, provided that s/he shall pass the examination within one year from an employment date, otherwise s/he shall cease to work following the deadline for taking the examination.

A candidate holding the appropriate professional qualifications and at least 10 years of work experience in the tourism profession shall not need to pass the public examination.

In addition to the special requirements listed above, a candidate can as well be nominated for the job of Director provided that a measure of safety or protective measure prohibiting the pursuit of tourism related activities has not been imposed on the candidate by a final court judgment or misdemeanor ruling, whilst the measure is in effect.

In addition to the cover letter and CV, candidates are required to submit the following:

1. Proof of professional qualification (a copy of a diploma or certificate of the higher education institution);
2. Attestation of years of work experience in the tourism profession (an electronic record or a certificate issued by the Croatian Institute for Pension Insurance, attesting years of work experience gained under the professional qualification), certificates from previous employers or another document (a copy of the employment contract or similar certificate) attesting the candidate’s profession, position and duration of work experience;
3. Proposal of the work programme of the Tourist Office for next calendar year;

 

 

1. Attesttation of active knowledge of a foreign language – a copy of the certificate / diploma / confirmation issued by a foreign language school, or a copy of a candidate’s student book attesting their attendance to a foreign language course and its duration, or an indication of active knowledge of a foreign language in their curriculum vitae;
2. A copy of the certificate of the public examination for work at a tourist office – if the candidate passed the examination;
3. Attestation of computer literacy – a copy of the certificate / diploma / confirmation of an IT course, or a copy of a candidate’s student book attesting their attendance to an IT course and its duration, or a self-signed statement that s/he is computer literate, or an indication of computer literacy in their curriculum vitae;
4. A candidate’s non criminal records, including the certificate attesting that a measure of safety or protective measure prohibiting the pursuit of tourism related activities has not been imposed on the candidate by a final court judgment or misdemeanor ruling, whilst the measure is in effect (the original or a certified copy) not older than three (3) months.

Important note: in accordance with Article 24 of the Law on Tourist Boards and Promotion of Croatian Tourism (OG, 152/08)

• The director of a tourist office shall not be the president or a member of the local assembly, tourist council or supervisory board of any tourist board;
• The director of a tourist office shal not be allowed to carry out any catering or tourism related activities in the area for which the tourist board has been established.
• The director of a tourist office shall not be a member of any administrative or supervisory body of any trading company or other legal entity that is a member of the tourist office.

 

The deadline for job submissions is 15 days from the date of the announcement of this competition.

Job submissions shall be delivered to the address: Turistička zajednica Općine Vrhovine, Senjska bb, 53223 Vrhovine, with the corresponding note on the envelope: “Director of the Tourist Office – Do Not Open”.

Incomplete and untimely submissions shall not be considered.

The Tourist Council of the Vrhovine Tourist Board can invite the eligible candidates to sit for written tests and/or interviews.

Candidates shall be notified on the outcome of the selection procedure within 30 days of the date of the Decision on selection of candidates is taken at a session of the Tourist Council of the Vrhovine Tourist Board.

The Tourist Office of the Vrhovine Tourist Board reserves the right not to appoint Director in accordance with the announced competition herewith, and can cancel the competition without explaining the reasoning.
